Family Support - Age 3 to Adulthood

Behavioral Health Counseling for Children (Ages 3+) and
Adults with Disabilities and their Families

At the Achievement Centers, you will find a skilled team of caring professionals dedicated to helping individuals with special needs and their families grow and succeed. It is our goal to provide support and information to help individuals build the skills they need to make informed choices, work toward their identified goals, and become advocates for themselves and their children.

Living with a disability, or being a family member of someone with special needs, presents unique stressors that can increase the risk for mental health challenges. Behavioral Health Counseling can help individuals and their families learn how to manage and overcome common life issues.

  • For someone with a disability, developmental tasks can become more complicated and result in feelings of sadness, loss or anger.
  • Brothers and sisters of siblings with special needs are often dealing with difficult feelings of their own, yet may find themselves in the shadows.
  • Parents of children with disabilities are faced with a whole new set of worries and responsibilities. They are twice as likely to report feelings of depression compared with parents of children without special needs.

We provide individual, family and group counseling to help prevent and address mental health issues, provide tools to manage stress, and promote emotional well-being.

In addition, we facilitate support groups for parents, siblings, grandparents and individuals with special needs to help families share helpful information, resources and  practical solutions with others facing similar challenges.
