Achieve Consulting PBIS/SWIS Consulting Services

  • Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) and School-Wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (SW-PBIS)

Achieve Consulting offers coaching services to assist in the development and implementation of PBIS. The services can be provided on a classroom, building, and/or district level.  The PBIS coach, provided through Achieve Consulting, will work collaboratively with the teacher(s) and/or school team(s) to increase academic achievement and create a positive learning climate through consistent and positive behavior supports.

Together, the PBIS Coach and the school’s team will proactively use a team-based framework to create and sustain a safe and effective school and learning environment.  Emphasis is placed on prevention of problem behavior, development of pro-social skills, and the use of data-based problem solving for addressing existing behavior concerns. PBIS/SW-PBIS increases the capacity of schools to educate all students utilizing research-based school-wide, classroom, and individualized interventions.

  • Once the foundational/universal level of PBS is in place, the coach then prepares the school for implementation of the School Wide Information System (SWIS).

The School-Wide Information System (SWIS) is a web-based software system for collecting and summarizing office discipline referrals in schools. The purpose of SWIS is to provide schools with accurate, efficient, practical information for decision-making about school wide discipline. SWIS was developed to be an efficient, reliable and confidential strategy for managing office discipline referral information. SWIS can be used for:

    1. Internal decision making as schools improve their discipline practices.
    2. Support plan decision with individual students and their families.
    3. Reporting to district, state and federal agencies about school outcomes.
    4. As a method of collecting aggregated data across schools.

The data may be summarized to provide information about individual students, groups of students, or the entire body over any specific time period for use in decision-making. The major uses involve monitoring:

    • The number of office discipline referrals occurring each month – per teacher/class, per student, per grade level, and per building
    • The type of problem behaviors leading to office referrals.
    • The locations of problem behavior events.
    • The problem behavior events by the time of day.
    • The frequency with which individual students contribute to office discipline referrals
