The Achievement Centers’ Intensive Therapy Clinic
Client Success Stories
Blair, 14 years old, is diagnosed with cerebral palsy, and independently drives her power wheelchair using a joystick control. Blair is a current physical therapy client at Achievement Centers, and was introduced to the Intensive Therapy Clinic as an alternative to surgical intervention to release tight hamstring and hip adductor muscles. Prior to her Intensive Therapy, Blair could only stand for a few seconds making it difficult to transfer her from her wheelchair. Blair and her parents hoped through her intensive sessions to improve her muscle strength and functionality to allow her to stand for longer periods of time.
Michael, 5 years old, had a diagnosis of hyptonia (low muscle tone involving muscle strength), and had made some gains in traditional therapy, but was still weak and behind in gross motor skills. Michael’s family was concerned about Michael being unable to navigate his school environment and keep up with his peers. His goal in his Intensive Therapy Clinic at Achievement Centers, was to build his strength and coordination to be able to climb stairs, both up and down.
